Out From the Sheepfold

A couple years ago, my life was formless and void—covered in darkness. Depression weighed heavy, direction felt distant, and everything around me seemed like chaos. But now, as I quietly celebrate the release of my first book, I’m drawn to one line in Scripture that sums it all up:

"I took you from the sheepfold..." – 2 Samuel 7:8

God spoke those words to David, reminding him that before the throne, before the crown, before anyone saw his value—God saw him. God took him. And I can’t help but say the same. I didn’t climb out of that pit. I didn’t figure it all out. He took me. He brought me out.

This isn’t about bragging—it’s about bearing witness. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10). What He’s done for one, He’s able and willing to do for another. So let this post encourage you if you’re still in your sheepfold season—or remind you, if you’ve already come out, of the One who brought you through.

What the Sheepfold Can Represent

1. Obscurity and Isolation
The sheepfold is hidden. It’s not a platform—it’s a pasture. It can feel like no one sees you or values what you carry. But it’s often the place God chooses to visit first.

2. Preparation and Humility
It’s where David learned to lead, protect, and be faithful in the small things. Your current season might feel insignificant, but it’s preparing you for something bigger.

3. Dependence and Intimacy
With no audience and no noise, it’s in the sheepfold that you learn to hear God clearly. Sometimes the isolation isn’t punishment—it’s invitation.

4. Wrestling with Darkness
David fought lions and bears in the field. The sheepfold can be a battleground—where depression, fear, and doubt show up—but it’s also where courage is born.

5. Formlessness Before Formation
Just like in Genesis, where the earth was formless and void before God spoke light into being—the sheepfold season feels chaotic, but it’s pregnant with potential.

6. Hidden Obedience
It’s where you learn to be faithful when no one’s clapping. It’s where integrity grows and roots deepen.

The Promise of Being Brought Out

“I took you...”

Not you climbed out, not you figured it out, not you forced your way in.
God took David—and He takes us. Out of darkness. Out of confusion. Out of hiding. Into purpose.

Like in Genesis, He doesn’t just speak light—He separates it from the darkness. He doesn’t just create dry ground—He gathers the waters so you can stand and walk. He doesn’t just make man in His image—He forms him from the dust, breathes life into him, and gives him dominion.

This journey—from darkness to light, from wandering to fruitfulness, from being hidden to walking in the image of God—is the story behind my book, Enthroned Above the Circle of the Earth. And it’s the testimony of Jesus in my life.

If you’re still in the sheepfold: stay faithful. He sees you. He’s forming you.

If you’ve been brought out: never forget Who did it.

It wasn’t you. It was Him.

He took you.

You Are Mine

There are few things more powerful than being seen —truly, deeply seen. And there are few words more affirming than the ones God speaks in Isaiah 43:1: “But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art Mine.” This verse hits with the force of a knockout punch. It’s God stepping in and declaring: “I don’t care what you’ve been through. I don’t care what name you’ve answered to. I don’t care what’s tried to claim you—I ALREADY DID. YOU. ARE. MINE.” Let’s break it down. Jacob vs. Israel: Who You Were vs. Who You’ve Become God doesn’t just call one name in this verse—He calls two. Jacob and Israel. This isn’t accidental; this is intentional. 🔹 Jacob (Ya‘aqov - ×™ַ×¢ֲקֹב) means supplanter, deceiver, heel-grabber. Jacob was the struggler, the one who grasped at what wasn’t his, the man who schemed his way through life. His name was tied to his flaws, his past, his reputati...

Breaking the Lock and Key: A Call to Transformation

  1. Introduction: The Invisible Chains of Conformity “Do not be conformed to the image of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). This verse is not just a spiritual call—it’s a radical challenge to every system that seeks to mold us into something we’re not. Conformity, whether to cultural norms or religious rules, often feels inevitable. Yet, it can trap us in a cycle of dependency, where access to fulfillment, purpose, or salvation seems locked away by those in power. But there is another way. Transformation through the renewing of the mind is the antidote to conformity—a pathway to reclaiming the freedom Christ offers. To break free, we must recognize how the "lock and key" dynamic operates in the world around us. 2. The "Lock and Key" of Cultural Conformity The Chains of Expectation: From the moment we enter the world, we’re handed a script: achieve success, accumulate wealth, look perfect, and conform to society's defini...

God's Desire for Us to Thrive

When we hear or read the words, “For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope,” we often stop at the comfort of the promise—but those thoughts aren’t vague. They’re visible. They’re written into the entire story of Scripture. From the Garden to the Kingdom, God’s intention has always been for His people to thrive. In Genesis 2, God didn’t create man and then look for a place to put him—He prepared Eden first, a place of beauty, abundance, and provision. Then He placed man in that garden. That is the heart of the Father: to position His children where they can thrive. Later, when delivering His people from Egypt, He didn’t just bring them out—He brought them in. Into a land flowing with milk and honey, a land He handpicked for them (Deuteronomy 8:7-10). Just like Eden, this land was a reflection of His desire to see His people not just survive, but flourish. We see this truth echoed throughout Scripture. Th...
