There’s a phrase that came to me one morning, somewhere between sleep and waking: "You got a natural on the way!" It landed in my spirit with excitement—like a whisper from Heaven. And the more I sat with it, the more I realized it wasn’t just a random phrase. It was a confirmation.
I’ve been in pursuit of purpose for most of my life. But if I’m honest, that pursuit was often desperate—striving to prove something, misusing the very talents I was naturally given in an effort to make a name for myself. And while serving time for that pursuit, I discovered things in me that no one taught me. Insights. Truths. Talents, that just came naturally.
Then it hit me: that’s the point.
Genesis 1:26–28 tells us we were made in the image of God. Before the fall. Before religion. Before shame. We were blessed. And that blessing wasn’t ornamental—it was functional. It was meant to activate our design:
Be fruitful
Multiply
Replenish the earth
Subdue it
Have dominion
We weren’t made to struggle for identity or purpose. We were created with both. The blessing wasn’t a reward; it was the starting point.
So when we pray to be blessed, we’re not praying for external validation. We’re not asking God to make our enemies ashamed. We’re asking to be empowered to be fruitful. That fruitfulness will naturally lead to multiplication. That multiplication equips us to replenish by proclaiming good news to the poor, binding up the brokenhearted, proclaiming freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners... comforting all who mourn, bestowing on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair—so they may be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor. (Isaiah 61:1–3, paraphrased)
And to sustain that—to keep walking in it—we have to subdue. We have to govern our thoughts, our habits, our atmosphere. We have to maintain the dominion He entrusted to us. That’s not control—it’s stewardship.
So what is "the natural" that’s on the way? It’s not a thing. It’s a position. A return to the image we were made in. A season of ease, not because it’s effortless, but because it’s aligned. It fits. It flows.
Christ solidified that position. What was lost in Adam was restored in Jesus. We don’t have to force our way into purpose—we just have to return to what’s always been ours.
Naturally.

Reflection:
Have you been striving for something that’s already in your DNA? What would shift if you believed you were already blessed, already fruitful, already positioned? The season may be changing—but the identity never did. Go back to the beginning. There you’ll find your natural place.
